Meet Your Child's Teacher!

Hello! My name is Christy Mitchell (Miss Christy), and I will be your little one's teacher!

I studied education in college and am a former homeschool momma to our four children: Kaitlyn, Caleb, Cameron, and Kristin. We homeschooled for 18 years, from preschool through high school graduation! All four went on to college and have done amazingly well! We have a social worker, a mechanical engineer, an architect, and a soon-to-be English major with an emphasis in creative writing!

I also taught ESL (English as a Second Language) for two years to children ages 4-12 who lived all over the world!

I have been happily married to my best friend, Seth, since 1995. The home and family are top priorities to me, and when you enroll your child with Treehouse Academy, your family instantly becomes part of our family!

I've taught multiple ages of Sunday School over the years, I have taught VBS since I was a teenager, and was even VBS Director for 7 years! I am now the director of our church's children's ministry for ages 4-12.

I feel like I've been teaching all my life! Teaching little ones is my passion and brings me great joy! I promise you, no teacher will love your precious babies more than I will, and I strive for them to know just how much they are loved through our classroom interactions.

Who Is Treehouse Academy For?

Our Pre-K and Kindergarten programs are for ideal for children ages 4-6, although many times we have siblings slightly younger as well as slightly older also join in the fun with our class activities!

Families who want a complete home-based program, or those who are looking to supplement an in-person program love Treehouse Academy!

Our program is perfect for homeschool families, working families, parents who want to be involved, and those who just need a little break each day! We are even available for schools, daycares, and babysitters to use our program with their little ones!

What Are Our Classes Like?

Each week you will be provided with two on-demand classes, taught by me, to be watched when it is most convenient for your child. Then, we'll get together with our classmates in our private Zoom classroom twice a week to learn, sing, and play together! In addition, each week will end with a science experiment class as well as an art class to use as you wish!

Each class, both on-demand and live, is approximately 30 minutes long and typically includes story time, song time (to help get the wiggles out), Circle Time (where we learn about emotions, weather, days of the week, months of the year, the Pledge of Allegiance, etc), and academic time. Each week we will have a specific theme we will focus our learning on such as dinosaurs, insects, outer space, and more!

When Is Enrollment?

ANYTIME!!

Members will have access to all pre-recorded classes so start wherever you want, jump around through different classes, or repeat classes for more fun and reinforcement of things they've learned!

What Supplies Are Needed?

Because I understand how busy life can be, I try to keep things as simple for you as possible. Most classes will use things you probably already have around the house. Occasionally we will use something you might need to pick up on your next trip to the store, but you will always have an updated supply list ahead of time. Each student will also receive a Welcome Kit at the beginning of the school year with many of the items they will be using during class.

Having access to a printer is vital as there will be things throughout the school year that will need to be printed off for the student.

Does an Adult Need to Be Present?

Only if you want to be! Some parents or caregivers want to be involved in the fun of our classes, and others use class time to take a few minutes for themselves to relax or get things done. Either way is fine with me!

Naturally, some activities may require some grown-up help, but most of our time together in class can be done independently, depending on the age and ability of the student.

Worried About Too Much Screen Time?

Good! You SHOULD be worried about your little ones being exposed to too much screen time! Children should spend the majority of their time playing, building, reading, and exploring outside!

Our classes are on a safe, ad-free platform and are kept to no more than 30 minutes for two reasons: little ones attention spans are short, and we want their "screen time" to be a time of fun and learning! To make class feel even less like screen time, try casting to a larger screen, like a TV!
